Candles are very prolific in the Wiccan culture and can help with a variety of things when spell casting. For example, the flame of a candle can not only be used to light material such as incense, but can also invite spirits, or initiate the beginning of a spell. The wax of a candle can be used to seal things such as jars, envelopes (particularly useful for love spells), and any variety of other magickal items you desire.

Unsurprisingly then, the color of the candle(s) you use are very important. Below I will go over some of the most common candle colors, and their meanings when it comes to witchcraft.

Some Common Candle Color Meanings:

 

  • Red:

    This color is linked to passion, hot love, and fiery romance. It also symbolizes sex, power, vitality, courage, fertility, and blood. This color candle is commonly used in spells designed to attract a lover, or renew energy in a fading relationship. It is also used for spells designed to give strength, energy, and protection. Red candles can also symbolize the the Mother portion of the Triple Goddess, who is know for representing sexuality, fertility, power, and life, among other things.

  • White

    The color white is a combination of all of the other colors, and is a strong symbol of purity, peace, innocence, and many more. It is also a symbol of the Maiden aspect of the Triple Goddess, and symbolizes clarity, spirituality, cleanliness, and joy. In terms of spells, it is used to help repel negative energy, aid meditation, relieve stress, and help find vision.

  • Orange 

    The color white is a combination of all of the other colors, and is a strong symbol of purity, peace, innocence, and many more. It is also a symbol of the Maiden aspect of the Triple Goddess, and symbolizes clarity, spirituality, cleanliness, and joy.   • Yellow

    The color yellow symbolizes intellect, creativity, and mental inspiration. It is used for spells that stimulate your self-esteem, happiness, optimism, and outlook of yourself. It is also used to promote mental strength, concentration, memory and logic.

  • Pink

    Pink is a symbol of every kind of love from deep friendship, to unconditional romantic love, to the love of the spiritual. It is most often used in love spells however, and is good for opening the heart and making it receptive to deep emotions.

  • Purple

    Purple is a powerful color when it comes to spirituality and is associated with spiritual awakening, psychic power, and wisdom. It is used for spells that involve healing, respect, spiritual protection, wisdom, and much more.

  • Magenta

    Magenta is used to expedite the process induced by other candles in spells. For example, burning a magenta candle with a pink candle during a love spell will increase the speed of the effect of the pink candle.

  • Green

    Green is a symbol of nature, growth, fertility, and the earth. It is most commonly used in money spells, luck spells, or spells that need elements of the earth represented within them.
